Athletes Foot
Is Athletes Foot Contagious

Athlete’s Foot is a very unfair name because it gives a bad name to all athletes. It is a very bad generalization. As opposed to the name of this widely spread but very curable disease, Athlete’s Foot is not just an athlete’s disease. Even non-athletes are prone to this disease caused by a fungus and that usually occurs between the toes. Anyone who wears shoes can be affected by Athlete’s Foot.

When one wears shoes, the environment inside the footwear is warm, dark and humid and these conditions are perfect for fungus to breed on. Athletes are the ones who often wear shoes and they also perspire heavily that is why they are common prey of Athlete’s Foot. Ordinary people who are commuters or who do a lot of walking can also be victims of this fungus because outdoor conditions like pollution and bad weather can take a toll on the feet.

Even when one is not wearing shoes, dampness of areas around common areas like swimming pools, showers and locker rooms are a favorite hangout of fungi. Avoid spending most of your time in these areas if you do not need to but if you really have to then request from caretakers of these places to maintain the cleanliness.

Cleanliness is indeed next to godliness. Spread of fungus or any disease for that matter can be stopped with just cleanliness as the answer. Also, you can take necessary precautions by practicing good hygiene on your body at all times and at all costs.

Fungus can be contagious because as the term breed connotes it spreads easily so if you have fungus make sure you stay away from people until you are cured already. It really is more of your affected area that you should keep people away from.

And also, you should take care that the other parts of your body will not be affected by the fungus in your feet. After all you do not want your whole body to be suffering from fungus or your whole team or your whole family suffering from fungus.

When fungus strikes, treat it right away and then make sure that you wash your feet regularly and dry them after washing so that it will not strike again. Do not make your body or your surroundings susceptible to fungus. Doing so will save you the hassle of medications and treatments when fungus affects your body.
